Detailed Solution

Houseflies, like other insects, feed via a technique known as "proboscis feeding."

This involves sucking up liquids, such as nectar or other sugary solutions, with a long, straw-like structure called a proboscis and then drawing the liquid into their mouth.

Houseflies do not brew their own food. Instead, they are drawn to sources of sugar and other liquids and extract these substances with their proboscis.

They also eat carrion (the decaying flesh of dead animals), feces, and other organic matter, as well as solid foods that they liquefy by regurgitating digestive enzymes.
