Detailed Solution

A frequency table helps organize raw data so you can quickly see how often each value (or range of values) occurs. Here’s how you can create one step by step:

Step 1: Arrange the Data

Write down all the data points from your raw data.
Example:
12, 15, 13, 12, 18, 15, 14, 13, 15, 16

Step 2: Identify the Smallest & Largest Values

  • Smallest value = 12
  • Largest value = 18
This helps decide the range and number of classes.

Step 3: Decide Class Intervals (if needed)

If the data has many values, group them into class intervals (like 10–12, 13–15, etc.).
Here, we can use:

  • 12–13
  • 14–15
  • 16–17
  • 18–19

Step 4: Make Columns

Create a table with at least two columns:

  • Class Interval or Value
  • Tally Marks / Frequency

Step 5: Tally the Data

For each value, put a tally mark (|) in the appropriate row.

Class IntervalTally MarksFrequency
12–13
14–15
16–17
18–19

Step 6: Write the Frequencies

Count the tallies in each row and write the frequency.

Step 7: Check Total

Add all frequencies to ensure they match the total number of data points.
