Detailed Solution

Indian women supported Mahatma Gandhi in gaining independence by participating in the protest march and manufacturing salt. Gandhi maintained that public protests should be tranquil and peaceful. The Civil Disobedience Movement was the principal public action wherein women took part in enormous numbers. During the Salt March, a large number of women emerged from their homes to listen to the speeches of Gandhi. Women took part in protests, produced salt, and picketed foreign cloth and alcohol shops. Some of them even got arrested and went to jail.
