Detailed Solution

Poona pact benefits for the dalits:
  • It gave the Depressed Classes reserved seats in provincial and central legislative councils.
  • It reduced taxes.
  • It gave the depressed class access to temples and schools.

  • The Poona Pact of September 1932 allowed the Depressed classes (later known as the Scheduled castes) to have reserved seats in federal and provincial legislative councils, but those seats were to be chosen by the General Constituency including every community. Poona Pact was an agreement between Dr B R Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi. The national movement led by Congress, however, continued to see the Dalit movement as a concern.
