Detailed Solution

The revolutionary government of France brought change into everyday life by introducing ideas like liberty and equality. When the ideas of liberty and equality were introduced, one crucial law came into effect. This law was the 'abolition of censorship, which came soon after the storming of the Bastille in 1789. In the Old Regime, all written works and cultural activities, including books, newspapers, and plays, could only be published or presented after receiving the king's censors' approval. The right to freedom of speech and expression was now stated to be a fundamental human right in the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen. France's towns were flooded with newspapers, pamphlets, books, and printed images, spreading quickly into the countryside.
