Detailed Solution

The mode is the value (or values) that occur most often in a data set.
When two numbers occur with the same highest frequency, the data set is called bimodal — which means it has two modes.

Steps to Find Mode in This Case

  1. Arrange the data in order (smallest to largest) if needed.
  2. Count the frequency of each number.
  3. Identify the numbers with the highest frequency.
  4. If two numbers have the same highest frequency, list both as the modes.

Example

Data: 4, 5, 6, 5, 7, 6, 8

  • Frequency of 5 = 2
  • Frequency of 6 = 2 (both are highest)

Mode = 5 and 6 (bimodal)

If two numbers have the same highest frequency, you write both as the mode.
If three or more numbers share the highest frequency, the data is called multimodal.
