Semiconductors are divided into p-type and n-type semiconductors based on the polarity of the charge produced. P-type semiconductors are defined as those that produce a positive charge. The term "n-type semiconductor" refers to semiconductors that produce a net negative charge.When the impurities are combined with the silicon, the semiconductors produce a charge.
