How do we get admission in Indian IIT?

Admission to an IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) is a two-step process that primarily involves qualifying for the JEE Main exam, followed by the JEE Advanced exam. The admission process is highly competitive, and only students who perform exceptionally well in these exams are selected. Here is an outline of the process:

1. JEE Main Examination:
   The first step is to appear for the JEE Main exam, which is a national-level examination. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and assesses candidates' understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The JEE Main cut-off score varies each year, and only those students who meet the cut-off will be eligible to move forward to the next round.
2. JEE Advanced Examination:
   After clearing the JEE Main exam, eligible students are invited to take the JEE Advanced exam. This exam is also conducted by the IITs and is more challenging than the JEE Main. The JEE Advanced exam determines the final ranking and eligibility for IIT admission. Only students who are in the top ranks after JEE Advanced are considered for admission to IITs.
3. Counseling and Seat Allocation:
   Once the results of JEE Advanced are declared, candidates are required to register for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process. During counseling, candidates select their preferred IITs and programs, and based on their ranks, they are allotted seats. The counseling process is based on merit, and it involves multiple rounds of seat allotment.
