How does phototropism occur in plants?

Phototropism is the directional growth and movement of a plant in response to light. It occurs when the plant hormone auxin accumulates on the shaded side of the plant, while its concentration decreases on the side exposed to light. The higher auxin level on the darker side stimulates faster cell elongation, causing the plant to bend toward the light source.
