The brain communicates with the body through the nervous system, a network of nerves and specialized cells called neurons. Electrical impulses travel through these neurons to relay information between the brain, spinal cord, and organs. The central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) processes data, while the peripheral system sends signals to and from muscles and sensory receptors. Chemical messengers called neurotransmitters transmit signals across synapses between neurons. This constant communication controls movement, reflexes, emotions, and body functions like heartbeat and breathing.
