How does the exchange of gases occur in animals?

The exchange of gases in animals occurs through the process of diffusion. Diffusion is a passive process in which molecules move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.

During respiration, oxygen diffuses from the air in the lungs into the blood, while carbon dioxide diffuses from the blood into the air in the lungs. Similarly, in tissues throughout the body, oxygen diffuses from the blood into the cells, while carbon dioxide diffuses from the cells into the blood. This process occurs through the thin walls of capillaries, which allow for efficient gas exchange between the blood and the surrounding tissues.

Osmosis is a different process that involves the movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane, while translocation refers to the movement of materials such as sugars within a plant. 

Transpiration is the process by which water is lost from the leaves of a plant through small openings called stomata.
