Detailed Solution

the east-west distances covered by the Himalayas are 2,400 Kms. The highest mountain ranges, the Himalayan ranges, cover a distance of 2400 kilometers from east to west to form an arc. The mountains lying on the northern border of the Indian subcontinent have great importance in influencing the climate and precipitation received by its surrounding lands. It extends from Arunachal Pradesh in the east to Jammu and Kashmir in the west, made of three parallel ranges. Nepal and Bhutan, two Himalayan countries, lie between these western and eastern extremities. The southern slopes of the Himalayas facing India are very steep compared to the gentle slopes on the Tibetan side. The plains of West Bengal and Assam are from which the Himalayas rise in the east.
