Concept: In this question, the rightmost digit of the three-digit number can be selected from a list of five digits, which are 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. The next digit, or the one in the tenth place, can then be selected from the same list of five digits, but the digit in the hundredth place can only be selected from a list of four digits because zero cannot be the first digit of a number.
Given numbers (0, 1, 2, 3 and 4). Therefore, there are a total of 5 digits. Next, using repeats, we must reduce the number to 3 digits. As a result, there are five people living in the flat.
As repetition is now permitted, the tenth spot is also filled in five different ways.
Because the digit 0 cannot be placed in the hundreds place and the repetition is permitted, the hundreds place is now filled in four different ways. For example, the three-digit number (012 = 12) would be changed to a two-digit number.
With repetition permitted, there are a total of the following ways to create a three-digit number from the given digits:
