The Indian constitution establishes the framework for defining the fundamental political code, structure, procedures, powers, and responsibilities of government institutions, as well as citizens' fundamental rights, directive principles, and responsibilities. Over 2000 modifications had been made to the draft after it was prepared and put up for debate and discussion. The first draft of the constitution had been amended 2,000 times. Out of 7,635, the assembly moved, considered, and rejected 2,473 amendments while debating the amended draught constitution. The assembly met eleven times in 165 days before adopting the constitution. It adopted the constitution on November 26, 1949, with 284 members signing it.
