The Supreme Court of India is the highest judicial court in the nation. It is India's highest court of appeal. The Supreme Court of India was established in January 1950. After independence, the Supreme court of India replaced the federal court of the state and the judicial committee of the privy council. There is now an only supreme court in India, which sits in the national capital Delhi. Initially, the Supreme court of India consisted of one chief justice and seven other judges. Currently, the supreme court of India has one chief justice of India and other 33 supreme court judges. The president of India appoints Supreme court judges.
