Detailed Solution

India is divided into 543 constituencies for the Lok Sabha elections. Members of Parliament make up the Lok Sabha, the lower chamber of the Indian Parliament. Each Member of Parliament (MP) represents a particular territorial constituency. At present, there are 543 constituencies. However, the Constitution of India allows for a maximum of 552 members in the Lok Sabha, of which 2 were nominated members from the Anglo-Indian community. Presently, there are 524 members representing the people of the 28 states and 19 members representing the people of the 8 Union territories of the country. Previously, there were 2 other members nominated by the President of India from the Anglo-Indian community, which was abolished by the Constitutional Amendment Act of 2019.
