Detailed Solution

There are 164 countries which are members of the World Trade Organisation. In 2016, there were 164 members. The world trade organisation was established in 1995 as a general agreement on trade and tariffs. It was founded in 1948 with 23 countries as the global international trade organisation. The main objective of GATT is to serve all the multilateral trade agreements by giving fair chances to all countries in the international exchange for trading prospects. A world trade organisation is needed to construct a rule-based trading government in which nations cannot place unreasonable constraints on trade. Hence, presently there are 164 countries members of WTO.
