How many hearts does the human body have?

The human body has one heart. This single, muscular organ is located slightly to the left of the center of the chest, between the lungs. The human heart is a vital organ responsible for pumping blood throughout the entire body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues and removing waste products like carbon dioxide.

The human heart is divided into four chambers: two upper chambers called atria (right atrium and left atrium) and two lower chambers called ventricles (right ventricle and left ventricle). These chambers work together to ensure the continuous flow of blood in a double circulatory system—one circuit sends blood to the lungs for oxygenation, and the other delivers oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body.

Unlike some animals that may have more than one heart (such as earthworms or octopuses), humans have only one heart. This single heart is essential for maintaining life and supporting all bodily functions.
