There are two houses of the Indian Parliament. A parliamentary government having two houses is called Bicameral.. There is Bicameralism in India. The two houses are: 1) The Lok Sabha - It is the lower house of the Parliament. It is also known as the House of the People. The people of the country directly elect the members of the Lok Sabha. The total members of the house constitute 550 members. At present, there are 543 members. 2) The Rajya Sabha - It is the upper house of the Parliament. The members of the Rajya Sabha are indirectly elected. The total members of the house constitute 250. Twelve of these are nominated members from art, culture, literature, social work etc. At present, there are 245 members.
