There are 3 important pipeline networks in India. The pipeline networks in India are still under development. The Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur (HVJ) gas pipeline, started in 1986, is the first interstate gas pipeline supplying gas to Uttar Pradesh’s fertiliser plants. Owned and operated by the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), it starts from Hazira in Gujarat, runs through Vijaipur (Bijaipur) in Madhya Pradesh, and ends in the industrial area of Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh. The second pipeline connecting Salya in Gujarat to Jalandhar in Punjab passes through Viramgam, Mathura, Sonipat, and Chakshu. The third pipeline starts from the oil fields in Assam and passes through Guwahati, Barauni, and Allahabad before it reaches Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
