Detailed Solution

Suppose that
The pure water to be added (x) = weight in kilograms
The weight in kg = y of 10% solution
Therefore from given condition,
x+100=y
In the saline solution the weight of salt present in 100 kg
= 30% of 100 kg
=30100×100
=30
the weight of the saline solution = 100 kg
When we adding x kg of pure water into 100 kg of a 30% saline solution, then
we obtain a 10% saline solution.
=100+x kg
% of the salt adding in the new saline solution
30100+x×100
Now calculate the all value we get,
10=30100+x×100
10=3000100+x
10100+x=3000
1000+10x=3000
10x=3000-1000
10x=2000
x=200010
x=200
Correct option is 1.
