Detailed Solution

21 languages besides Hindi are recognised as Scheduled Languages by the Constitution.
The Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution is a list of the official languages of the Republic of India. The eighth schedule recognises the following 22 languages including Hindi : Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Meitei (Manipuri), Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Recognition as a scheduled language accords these languages a constitutional recognition and thus promotes its protection and preservation.
