Detailed Solution

Seeds are a product of sexual reproduction. The seeds contain the embryo. Embryo develops from the zygote.

The zygote is formed by fusion of male gamete and egg cell.

1 microspore mother cell produces 4 microspores. Each microspre has 2 male gametes. Out of the two male gametes 1 is used for syngamy.

For formation of 100 seeds, 100 male gametes are required.

1 microspore mother cell produces 4 microspores/pollen grain by 1 meiosis.

Therefore, for production of 100 male gametes there is requirement of 100/4=25 meiosis

1 Megaspore mother cell undergoes meiosis to produce 4 megaspores. Out of 4 megaspores formed 3 degenerate and only 1 remain functional.

The functional megaspores forms 1 egg in the embryo sac.

Therefore, 1 Megaspore mother cell undergoes meiosis to produce 1 egg cell ultimately.

Therefore, to produce 100 egg cells there will be the requirement of 100 meiosis.

Therefore, total number of meiosis required for the production of 100 seeds are 100+25= 125.
