Detailed Solution

The president nominates twelve members to the Rajya Sabha. The Rajya Sabha comprises no more than 250 individuals, out of which 238 individuals represent the states, and 12 individuals are nominated by the President. These nominated members are those who have special knowledge or practical experience in art, literature, science and social service. It gives eminent persons a place in the Rajya Sabha without having to go through the process of elections. A Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) is an MP who is chosen rather than elected to the House of Representatives. The Rajya Sabha can include 12 nominated members, but individuals who support the ruling party are frequently nominated.
