Detailed Solution

9.3 per cent of the world's forest area was cleared for industrial uses, cultivation, pastures, and fuel wood between 1700 and 1995.
A large portion of this variety is rapidly vanishing. For example, during the period of industrialization between 1700 and 1995, 13.9 million square kilometres of forest, or 9.3% of the world's total area, were removed for industrial purposes, farming, pastures, and fuelwood. Purposeful clearing of forest resources is called deforestation. Though deforestation began centuries ago, the procedure became more extensive and systematic during the colonial period. So this happened because of several reasons. Firstly, this period saw tremendous population growth and demanded food cultivation as well. Secondly, Growing commercial crops became a priority for the colonizers.
