There are 8 planets present in the solar system. Until 2006 there were nine planets in the solar system. In 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) adopted a new definition of a planet. And Pluto, which was the farthest planet from the Sun does not fit this definition. Therefore, It is no longer a planet in the solar system.

The eight planets in their order of distance from the Sun are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
