The Scheduled Castes have 84 seats in the Lok Sabha.
The Lok Sabha, or lower chamber, has seats for Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Some seats are reserved for people from the Scheduled Castes [SC] and Scheduled Tribes [ST]. The members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are eligible to contest for election in a constituency reserved for them, according to the Delimitation Commission's request in 2008. The Lok Sabha now has 84 seats allocated for Scheduled Castes and 47 seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes. This figure is proportionate to their population share.
