Detailed Solution

Sixty seats were won by Lok dal in the election of 1987.
76 of the 90 seats were won by Lok Dal and its allies, with 60 seats going to Lok Dal alone. Only five seats had been won by congress. To defeat the congress, Devi Lal organized the Nyaya Yudh movement, and the Lok Dal party gained popularity among the populace and achieved a convincing victory in the Assembly elections. He joined forces with other opposition groups to provide a unified front and a different alternative to the populace. In its platform, the Lok Dal proposed populist measures, including loan forgiveness for farmers and small-business owners. People largely voted for Lok Dal because they were fed up with the Congress administration as it was now operating.
