Detailed Solution

JEE Main Attempts:

  • A candidate can attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years. For example, if a candidate first appears for their Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination in 2024, they are eligible to appear for JEE Main in 2024, 2025, and 2026.
  • JEE Main is also conducted multiple times (sessions) within a year (e.g., January and April). Candidates can appear in one or both sessions; the best score among the attempted sessions is considered for ranking. Each session counts as an attempt for that year.

JEE Advanced Attempts:

  • A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
  • To be eligible for JEE Advanced, a candidate must be among the top ~2.5 lakh candidates who qualify JEE Main in that specific year and meet other eligibility criteria (like age limit and Class 12 performance).

Important Note: Always refer to the latest official information brochures released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for JEE Main and the respective IIT organizing JEE Advanced for the most current and specific eligibility criteria regarding attempts.
