Detailed Solution

There are 4 types of coal found in India. They are peat, lignite, bituminous, and anthracite. Coal is one of the conventional energy sources which is futile and limited on the earth’s surface. Peat is formed from the decaying plants in swamps which will burn live wood and give less heat with more smoke. Lignite is soft with moisture content being high. Neyveli in Tamil Nadu has the reserve of lignite. Generation of electricity is also possible with lignite. Bituminous coal is high-grade metallurgical coal that is important for the smelting of iron in blast furnaces. Anthracite is the highest quality coal found in India.
