How many types of muscles tissue are present in the body of vertebrate animals?

Vertebrates have three different types of muscle:
(1) Smooth muscle, the contractile components of most visceral organs and the majority of the digestive system.

(2) Cardiac muscle, a structure exclusive to the heart.

(3) Skeletal (or striated) muscle, which controls the majority of the body's gross movements, particularly those of the skeleton.

Each of these tissues is made up of cells known as muscle fibers, which contain actin, myosin, and other proteins essential to the contractile nature of muscle in their cytoplasmic filaments. Each type of tissue has a different arrangement of filaments.
