There were three types of taxes that followed during the Delhi Sultanate.
Land revenue served as the primary source of state income in the Sultanate because agriculture represented the majority of the state's income. Hence, three different kinds of taxes were levied on the people of the Sultanate, including a tax on agriculture, known as kharaj, which amounted to around 50% of the produce by peasants. Meanwhile, the other two types of taxes were the tax on cattle and the tax on dwellings or houses.
