Detailed Solution

In the Pali writings, particularly in the Vinaya Pitaka, three different kinds of villages are mentioned:
1)      Typical Villages- In these villages, a village chief  known as a "gramabhojaka," "gramini," or "gramakas" is in charge of typical villages, which are home to a variety of castes and communities. The vast majority of the localities were included in this group. The bhojaka enforced local law and order while collecting taxes from the populace.
2)      Sub-Urban Communities: These took the form of craftsmen's settlements, such as the settlements of carpenters, chariot builders, reed makers, etc. These suburban settlements served as markets for nearby communities, bridging the gap between rural and urban areas.
3)      Villages along the border: These settlements were situated where the open spaces and the wooded areas met. In border communities, hunters and fowlers made up the majority of the population.
