27% reservation is given to OBCs in government jobs in India.
On 7th August 1990, Vishwanath Pratap Singh, then the Prime Minister, announced that Other Back Classes (OBCs) would receive 27% reservation of jobs in central government services and public sector units. The decision was based on a report presented on 31st December 1980. The report recommended bookings for OBCs not only in government services but also in higher education. The Mandal Commission 1979 made this report.
