How much time does it take for light to reach the earth from the Sun?

Light travels at a speed of 300,000 km/s. 

Given the fact that the distance between Earth and the sun is 150 million km, we can calculate the time taken for light to reach Earth by dividing them.

$\mathrm{Time}$$=$$\frac{\mathrm{Distance}}{\mathrm{Speed}}$

         $=\frac{150000000}{300000}$

          $=500$ seconds or $8.3$ minutes
