To authenticate your Aadhaar with IRCTC you must link and verify your Aadhaar number with your IRCTC user profile. First log in to your IRCTC account, go to “My Profile” or “Aadhaar / KYC” section and choose “Link Aadhaar” or “Authenticate Aadhaar”.

Enter your Aadhaar number and proceed with OTP verification sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Once the OTP is accepted, your IRCTC profile becomes Aadhaar-authenticated. From July 1 2025 onwards, for Tatkal ticket bookings and other reservation services, Aadhaar authentication is mandatory.

After linking, when booking a ticket, ensure that at least one passenger’s details match the Aadhaar-authenticated profile; this allows access to higher booking limits (e.g., more tickets per month) and Tatkal quotas.

If you don’t link your Aadhaar, your profile remains un-authenticated and booking capabilities may be restricted, especially for time-sensitive quotas like Tatkal. It’s recommended to complete the process well in advance to avoid booking issues.
