How to introduce yourself in an interview?

Your self-introduction in an interview should be short, relevant and tailored to the role.

Structure:

1. Greeting & Name: “Good morning/afternoon. My name is ….”
2. Current role or recent education: “I am currently working as …” or “I recently graduated in … from …”.
3. Key skills or achievements: “I specialise in … and have achieved …” (give one brief example).
4. Why this role/company: “I am interested in this position because …” linking to your skills.
5. Closing line: “I look forward to discussing how I can contribute.”

Tips:

• Keep it to 60-90 seconds.
• Speak clearly and confidently.
• Avoid irrelevant personal details (hobbies etc unless asked).
• Practice but don’t sound memorised.
