The administration during the Chola empire was divided into Mandalams. Mandalams were used to organise their work and administration, and these mandalams were eventually divided into three stages. Mandalams refers to the division of a mandalam into valanadu, nadu, and kurram. Commissary, district, or commercial towns are all denoted by valanadu, Nadu, and kurram, respectively. The Chola kingdom appeared advanced in many areas as if they had created numerous irrigation and crop cultivation methods. They used to build temples and collect taxes.
