Detailed Solution

An air bubble behaves like a concave lens  when a ray of light is passed through it inside the water .
Here, we can say that the air bubble acts like a Concave lens within the water. Concave lenses are called diverging lenses because the rays that fall on them diverge. The concave lens diverges a straight light beam from the source to make a diminished, upright virtual image, and so it generates both real and virtual images. As light strikes an air bubble with such a convex surface, it is reflected within the water, much like a concave lens. Also, the refractive index of air is 1 and the index of water is 1.33. Thus, the refractive index of water is more than air. So, the concave lens is an air bubble inside the water.
