Detailed Solution

Ibn Battuta, a fourteenth century traveller, travelled to India from Morocco in Africa. He was a scholar and explorer from the Berber Maghreb region of Africa. He travelled more than any other explorer in pre-modern history, mostly throughout the Muslim world, and extensively explored the continent of Afro-Eurasia. At the time, Muhammad bin Tughluq was known as the richest man in the Muslim world. He supported numerous academics, Sufis, and other officials to solidify his rule. The Tughlaq Dynasty was a rare surviving example of a Muslim government following a Mongol invasion, much to Mamluk Egypt. Ibn Battuta was chosen as a qadi, or judge, by the sultan based on his years of study at Mecca.
