Displacement is pushing an object out of the way and taking its place when it is dipped in a fluid.

When a body sinks in a fluid, it displaces an amount of fluid equal to its own volume. But when it floats on the fluid, it displaces an amount of fluid equal to its own weight.

Hence according to Archimedes principle, which is a physical Law of buoyancy, the amount of fluid displaced is directly related to its volume. The principle states that anybody completely (or) partially submerged in liquid is acted upon by buoyancy Force the magnitude which is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body.
