The correct answer is option (1) Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005. This act is the successor of the National Food For Work Programme or NFFWP, which was launched in 2004. The MGNREGA Act was established in 2005. This program aims at intensifying the generation of supplementary wage employment. This program was implemented as a 100 % centrally sponsored scheme. It assures to give 100 days of regular work to rural household adults whose adult members want to do so. NFFWP was initially implemented in the 150 most backward districts of the country. In 2013-14, about five crore households obtained employment opportunities under this law.
