The Distal Convoluted Tubule (DCT) of the nephron in the kidney is involved in the conditional reabsorption of sodium ions (Na⁺) and water. This reabsorption is regulated by hormones like aldosterone and antidiuretic hormone (ADH). ADH stimulates the principal cells of DCT to reabsorb water.

Aldosterone promotes the reabsorption of sodium ions in the DCT, which leads to the reabsorption of water as well, due to the osmotic movement of water following the sodium ions. This process helps in maintaining electrolyte balance and blood pressure regulation.
