Detailed Solution

In animal cells, during the S phase, DNA replication begins in the nucleus, and the centriole duplicates in the cytoplasm.
In animals, usually mitotic cell division is only seen in the diploid somatic cells. However, in some lower plants and in some social insects haploid cells also divide by mitosis.
The plants can show mitotic divisions in both haploid and diploid cells. If we consider angiosperm, the haploid microspore forms the two male gametes by mitosis. Also, the haploid megaspore undergo mitosis and forms the embryo sac. The somatic cells of the diploid plants undergo mitosis and helps the plant to grow.
