Detailed Solution

Sinhalas are the major social group that constituted the largest share in the population of  Sri Lanka.
They make up roughly 74.8% of the entire population. Tamils from Sri Lanka make up a second substantial population group. They make up around 11.2% of the entire population. In 1948, Sri Lanka gained its freedom. It acknowledged Sinhala as the sole official language in 1956. Additionally, it adopted laws that favoured Sinhala for significant roles and employment. The Sri Lankan Tamils were denigrated by these actions. In their own nation, they felt estranged. Tamils in Sri Lanka fought for recognition, which led to a civil war.
