Detailed Solution

The East India Company had fixed revenue- is the merit of Permanent Settlement for the British. Lord Cornwallis introduced this system in 1793. The system was mainly introduced in the areas of Bengal and Bihar. According to this settlement, 10/11 of the production was given as tax to the British East India Company, and only 1/11 was left with the zamindars. Land revenue was fixed, thereby giving a regular income to the Company. They did not directly collect the tax. It was taken care of by zamindars and other mediators. Therefore, the Company did not face any issues with the collection of taxes.
