NW-2 on the Brahmaputra river covers a distance of 891 km between Sadiya and Dhubri. This waterway is also one of the main transport routes where heavy and bulky goods are transported to North East India. In India, the majority of the Brahmaputra's length is navigable. Between Sadiya and Dhubri, the Indian government recognised the enormous navigational potential and designated it the National Waterway-2 in 1988.
