The 1929 Congress meeting was held in Lahore, where the demand of Purna Swaraj was formalised.
As the influential party Indian National Congress adopted the resolution of Poorna Swaraj for complete independence, the Lahore session was particularly significant. In December 1929, the Congress convention assembled in Lahore under the leadership of Pandit Nehru. He stated during this session, 'we have only one objective left, which is complete independence'. Members of this session resolved that either they should rule themselves or the Congress and Indian nationalists should fight for Purna Swaraj. Moreover, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru raised the Indian tricolour flag during this meeting on the bank of the Ravi river.
