Detailed Solution

Concept- In the blast furnace, iron ore is reduced to obtain iron (pig iron).
For the extraction of iron, iron ore, coke, and limestone are added to the blast furnace from its top. From the bottom of the furnace, hot air is introduced.
The is the reactions that occurs  in the blast furnace are as follows:
Coke undergoes combustion and produces carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide again reacts with coke to produce carbon monoxide.
C+ O 2 C O 2 Coke
Limestone ( CaC O 3  ) decomposes as follows:
CaC O 3 CaO+C O 2
This calcium oxide ( CaO  ) reacts with silica to produce calcium silicate and this produce is known as slag.
CaO+Si O 2 CaSi O 3   reactions 1, 2, and 4 are taking place and only reaction 3 is not occurring in the blast furnace.
Hence, the correct option is 3.
