Detailed Solution

The river marked on the map is the Kaveri river.
The Kaveri is a river flowing through the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, originating in the Brahmagiri range of the Western Ghats in the Kodagu district of Karnataka. The third largest river in south India, Kaveri, drains into the Bay of Bengal after covering around 805 km. Hemavati, Kabani, Moyar, Amaravati, and Bhavani are some river tributaries. It is the sight of the Shivasamudra Falls. The Kaveri delta is densely populated owing to the fertile soil and possibilities for cultivation. The region is prone to tropical cyclones from the Bay of Bengal. The river is used for irrigation and power generation. It is the source of water disputes between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
